That powerful low-pressure system accompanied by a cold that elongates south into the central planes trekking west to provide us another opportunity for severe weather. Most indicators show severe weather activity will impact the Kansas City region Monday night. However, there are signs this storm system could expand into Tuesday morning. Saturday will only hit the upper 70s before getting back into the 80s on Sunday. We’ll dip into the low 60s overnight before Friday ushers in the mid-80s for the end of the work week. Clouds will build ahead of an approaching cold front before showers and storms move in late in the day. This will kick off an unsettled pattern that lingers through the weekend into the mid portions of next week. In all, eight law enforcement officials were shot, including two correction officers who were killed and a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer who was critically wounded and later died.
Heading into the weekend, we get another cold front moving our way. This is a slow moving system impacting our region Friday through weekend and on into next week. As of right now, Friday looks to be mainly dry throughout the morning, but shower and storm chances increasing by the afternoon into the evening.

Back-up plans will be needed Friday evening if you’re planning on going outside. While severe weather is not expected, storms may become strong with gusty winds and small hail. Another round of scattered showers and storms is possible to start the weekend with potential strong thunderstorm activity hanging around our northwestern counties. A First Warn Saturday has been issued due to this wet weather event. Friday will also start off mild with highs in the mid 80s, but scattered showers and storms will develop in our western counties by the afternoon and evening hours. As we move towards the end of the weekend into next week, temperatures will rise dramatically back to the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Scattered shower and thunderstorm chances will likely linger into the start of next week with warm temperatures sticking around through the end of the 7-day forecast.
