Dinner & Wine Pairing

zinc house winery & brewery

Kids can be there (outside and on first floor of main building) until 6pm. I lucked out with seating and the group next to me moving so that we were able to find space for our group of 10+ people. The food trucks are pricey but tasty and with good variety. Great middle spot for meeting friends from Durham (I'm in N Raleigh).

Bring water bottles for the kids and out side toys but NO CHALK. The bathrooms are nice and well kept. You’ll also love the drive up the path to the winery.

They took wine courses, made kit wines, brewery courses and started brewing beer. In 2010 Mike & Kimberly made their lifelong commitment to each other while floating in a hot air balloon slowly drifting over the expansive Russian River Valley in Napa. For the next 12+ years they continued to refine their love for wine and craft beer while working to build out this dream that has now become Zinc House Winery & Brewery.

They have roof top seating for 21 and older if you decide to leave the kids at home. Out of all the historical metals, Zinc was the one that called their name. Zinc is a long lasting, maintenance free metal that has an unparalleled warmth and depth. Zinc just happens to be an essential component to the good health of yeast! With this knowledge and love of Zinc, Mike knew when he built his first house his house would be wrapped in custom made Zinc panels. In 2002, Mike purchased 45 acres of raw undeveloped land and in 2006, he built his first house complete with Zinc Cladding on all of the walls and roofs and this is what has become The Zinc House!

We offer non-alcoholic beers, water and Coke products. All patrons of ZincHouse must be 21 and over, with the exception of specifically designed holidays and family events.

The only drawback is the long gravel drive to get to the buildings, but worth the effort. Yes, though we do highly encourage you to support local business via the food trucks on site! The list of food trucks can be found on our calendar. No “food only” tables are allowed in the seating areas inside or outside.

Our Carriage House, nestled in privacy, hosts public dinners, tastings and events. Stunning new winery in Durham not far from i540. Pretty packed but definitely worth a visit. Great for groups, families, and even weddings. Looking forward to coming here more often.

Looking forward to many more visits. Beautiful beautiful beautiful grounds. I absolutely love the European feel and the classiness. The food trucks are a nice touch and the food I got was good. I got two different wines and they were both delicious and was a pretty good price as well. They also have live music and it made the environment even more relaxing.

I hate to recommend and it's only going to get busier, but also want this place to succeed as it's an adult alcohol destination.Borrowed the photo from my friend. We will eventually have a house wine but our excellent, Sommelier-led wine program is in place to offer an outstanding variety to suit all palates and provide a true, diverse winery experience. Visit us for a beer, a wine, and enjoy our changing selection of food trucks.

Our calendar is updated monthly with our live music, food trucks, ticketed events and festivals.Welcome to ZincHouse. The Triangle areas premier destination. Warm, inviting, expansive (with an 'a'), very classy and one of the most comfortable places to just visit and relax with friends and family over one of their several bonfire pits. Plenty of heaters near tables for cooler weather.

Please be aware that we do not take reservations. All seating is first come, first serve and no special accommodations are made for large parties. You don't have permission to access this resource. Smoking and vaping are allowed only OUTSIDE of the buildings in designated areas only. Join us Wednesday to Sunday for a fantastic selection of beer and wine, in addition to amazing scenery that’ll remind you of the mountains! We are open to the general public 5 days a week.

In 2008, Mike along with Kimberly started venturing out to various vineyards, wineries and breweries throughout NC and Virginia. Their minds were immediately transfixed by the experience of sitting outside with a bottle of wine, enjoying nature, and learning about their new passion. The idea of building a winery was born in 2009 and it was then that they began to slowly transform the land into the vision they had for this winery.

We went for Mother’s Day and had a great time. There were a lot of people there celebrating as well. They had a couple of food trucks and live music. The grounds are beautiful but get there early if you want a seat with some shade. Next time we will pack a few chairs or a blanket. Tons of space for the kids to run around.

One of the big drivers for this vision is the love that Kimberly and Mike have for this land. They want to share their love for this land by creating a space where people can fall away from the daily pressures of their lives and come away feeling inspired and with a sense of peace. Although we are no longer hosting private events at ZincHouse, we remain eager to share in your celebrations, milestones, and cherished memories. Your furry friends are welcome outside of our buildings where we have expansive seating and heaters for cooler weather.

In Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), officers learn de-escalation tactics and learn signs to look for if someone is experiencing a mental health crisis. Delays stretched back at least three miles in both directions because of the closure. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers successfully helped a man suffering from a mental health crisis Tuesday that prompted a full closure of Interstate 77 near Uptown Charlotte. With construction beginning in the 1960s, I-77 would gain additional mileage in October 1964 when a two-mile (3.2 km) extension was granted by the US Bureau of Public Roads. Instead of ending at I-85, I-77 now ended at Independence Boulevard (US 74) in Uptown Charlotte. Another extension was granted in the late 1960s that extended I-77 from Independence Boulevard to the South Carolina border.

That suspect, who was later identified as 39-year-old Terry Clark Hughes, Jr., was killed in the shootout, police said. Three other Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers who responded to the shooting were shot, Jennings said. They were identified as Christopher Tolley, Michael Giglio and Jack Blowers. Tolley underwent surgery and remains hospitalized in stable condition, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in a news release. The project will enhance mobility and travel time reliability in the I-77 corridor north of Charlotte. This region has experienced significant population growth during the past 25 years, particularly in the communities along the northern portion of the corridor in Iredell County.

Interstate 326, which was briefly designated on the Southeastern Beltway between I-26 and S.C. The Temporary Interstate 77, signed on I-20 and I-26 around Columbia, was also eliminated in 1995. — Large crowds lined the streets to pay their respects to fallen U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks as a procession escorted his body from Charlotte to Mooresville on Wednesday.

The latest extension also included a relocation of US 21 from the city's surface streets to the new Interstate. I-77 continues north through Canton and then Akron, where it connects with I-76. The interchange with I-80, the Ohio Turnpike, between Akron and Cleveland was completed in December 2001;[5][6] previously, traffic had to exit at State Route 21 (SR 21) to access the turnpike. New ramps as part of the Innerbelt Project join E 9th Street to provide access to U.S. 422/SR 14 (Orange Avenue). The eastbound ramp from Interstate 90 to I-77 south closed permanently by April 11, 2011. The 1959 truss bridge carrying I-90 across the Cuyahoga River was fully demolished on July 12, 2014.

Toll charges are applied when the driver enters each tolling segment. I-77 begins as an eight-lane highway at I-26 in the far southeastern part of the Columbia metropolitan area. In the Columbia area, I-77 offers access to Fort Jackson before meeting I-20 in the northeastern part of the city. This segment of I-77, combined with I-20 and I-26, form a beltway around Columbia, though it is not officially designated as such. I-77 north from Statesville to Fort Chiswell, Virginia is a rural but busy truck route. The stretch is punctuated by the Blue Ridge Mountains, which offers both scenery and potentially travel foggy conditions through Carroll County.

Police said the officers called for backup and they continued to exchange fire with the suspect. More gunfire came from inside the house as officers approached the suspect, setting off a long standoff, Jennings said. "There's indication that the suspect saw them coming to the house prior to them getting to the front door," Jennings said during a news conference Tuesday. When officers approached a house to arrest the suspect, they were immediately met with gunfire and they returned fire, Jennings said. We can provide you directions, detailed entry-point and exit-point maps, and an estimated price to get you there on time. By 1972, I-77 was open from exit 28 (NC 73) to exit 73 north of Elkin.

Bumper-to-bumper traffic during peak travel times is obsolete on the express lanes. Marshals Task Force – one deputy and two task force officers – were killed in the shootout. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital that an officer from its department also died from his injuries later Monday evening. The other wounded officer was identified Tuesday by the Statesville Police Department as Statesville police Cpl. Casey Hoover, who was also a member of the task force. Hoover suffered a gunshot wound to an area of his upper torso that was unprotected by his bulletproof vest, Statesville police said in a news release. He underwent surgery and is stable and expected to make a full recovery, police said.

At Statesville, 40 miles (64 km) north of I-85, it intersects I-40 and US 70. Next, it crosses over US 421 in Yadkin County and continues on through Elkin. The final intersection in the state is with a discontinuous section of I-74 near Mount Airy. As part of the Innerbelt Project in Cleveland with I-71 and I-90, changes were made at the north end of Interstate 77. The southbound entrance ramps from 9th and Ontario Streets were removed and loop ramps along I-90 east replaced with a single ramp to E 9th Street north. This movement to the southbound beginning of Interstate 77 was replaced by an upgraded boulevard along Orange Avenue (U.S. 422/SR 14) to 30th Street.

Running along the Kanawha River into the capital city, I-64 and I-77 separate outside Downtown, with I-77 turning northeast briefly to Interstate 79. I-79 joins Charleston with Morgantown and Pittsburgh while I-77 remains along the former U.S. 21 corridor north to Parkersburg and Marietta, Ohio. Resuming a northward heading from Wytheville, Interstate 77 traverses a series of mountains to Bluefield, West Virginia.

I-77 Express operates for 26 miles from uptown Charlotte to Mooresville, giving you traveling options. You can choose to use I-77 Express, the general purpose lanes or a combination of them both dependent upon your travel needs. Parker said violence against law enforcement officers must not be tolerated.

Toll rates may change as often as every five minutes to accommodate changes in demand for I-77 Express. The minimum and maximum toll rates per segment will be adjusted periodically in accordance with the contract and North Carolina law. Free HOV (high occupancy vehicle) travel is available for drivers who plan on using the I-77 Express Lanes after setting their HOV status with three or more people in the car. If a driver travels in the express lanes without setting HOV status, they will receive an invoice in the mail with the posted toll rate or pay the toll with their prepaid account. The express lanes will have a total of 11 entry and exit points along the 26-mile corridor.

"We have two people of interest at the police station that are being questioned right now," Police Chief Johnny Jennings said during the presser. "And we have confirmed that the individual that was set up that we were serving the warrant on was the individual who fired the initial shots and was deceased in the front yard at the end of all of this." Fox News’ Brooke Singman reports on the identified officers killed in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The suspect may have also fired at the officers after he was shot outside the house, Jennings said. The suspect was shooting at the officers from the upstairs of the house, Jennings said. When the standoff was over, a female and a 17-year-old were found inside the house and were brought to a police station as persons of interest, Jennings said. A later statement said both individuals were female and that they had exited the home following negotiations with a SWAT team.

Despite the name, it’s a little more grown-up and elegant but still focused on classic Italian American cuisine, with touches like a mozzarella bar with fior di latte or stracciatella, housemade pastas and parms, steaks, and broiled branzino. The menu can seem pricey, but it’s packed with local ingredients and it’s all meant to be shared, like a family dinner at a table loaded with deliciousness. Wagyu pot roast, miso mac and cheese, and broccoli grilled with bone marrow butter will barely leave room for desserts like salted honey pie. When Kindred first opened in Davidson in 2015, the cult-favorite dish was milk bread —  pans of golden rolls based on a Japanese baking technique. It was such a hit, it became the inspiration for the Kindreds’ breakfast and brunch cafe, Milkbread, first in Davidson and now at their stylish reimagining of the classic Central Avenue Dairy Queen in Plaza Midwood.

What is it about Philadelphia’s favorite sandwich that drives Charlotte so wild? Whatever it is, it drove partners Ryan Hart, Greg Balch, and Hannah Smith — all familiar names from other spots, including the Crunkleton — to stake their claims with a popular spot on the geographic cusp between Plaza Midwood and Elizabeth. It’s a walk-up counter with limited outdoor seating, and fans stand in long lines to grab a classic version of a Philly. Richly spiced stews, warm incense, and East African art make this Eastside spot feel like walking into a well-kempt home.

When Plaza Midwood brewery Resident Culture expanded to a cavernous space in South End, it found space for chef Hector González-Mora, whose breakfast taqueria had already attracted a following. González-Mora has thrived, and now El Toro Bruto has a full menu, from breakfast to lunch to dinner. It’s the kind of thoughtful Mexican cuisine that’s taken a while to find a home in Charlotte. dunavant charlotte nc

With the close of the 1990s Dunavant looked to bring the Internet to the cotton industry, joining forces with several of its chief competitors to form a neutral Internet business-to-business marketplace for cotton as well as cotton-related products and services. The independent company, named The Seam, set up shop in Memphis. Other Internet companies were also attempting to introduce E-commerce to cotton, but with the onset of an economic downturn, the industry was more concerned with poor market conditions, which in turn had an adverse impact on the fortunes of Dunavant Enterprises. In 2000 the company took steps to grow its real estate division and boost development primarily in the mid-South region. Nevertheless, cotton remained Dunavant's core business, and as a result of poor market conditions, the firm's ranking on the Forbes 500 list of largest private companies revealed the downturn. In 1999 Dunavant ranked 191st, in 2000 it was 231st, and by November 2001 the company was 273rd on the list.

In late 1991 Dunavant, in conjunction with local developer Jim Davidson, unveiled a $1.37 billion plan for a professional-caliber golf course, resort, 7,200-unit residential component, and close to six million square feet devoted to office, industrial, and retail use. A major aspect of the project was the participation of the PGA, professional golf's ruling body, which Dunavant believed would greatly increase the value of the venture. In exchange for the necessary land, the PGA agreed to establish a PGA Tour Hall of Fame complex in the development, including a resort hotel, two 18-hole golf courses, and a gold academy. The Hall of Fame was expected to open by early 1994, but by that time the project was only just beginning to emerge from the development stage, the cost growing to $1.5 billion. In June 1994 Billy Dunavant and officials from the PGA and the state of Florida conducted an unusual groundbreaking ceremony, driving golf balls that set off explosions of confetti when they landed.

The business was heavily in debt to the First National Bank of Memphis, but Dunavant was able to meet with bank officials and convince them to maintain their backing despite the youth of its new head. Moreover, the U.S. cotton industry now faced steep foreign competition as well as encroachment from synthetic fibers that were becoming increasingly more popular.

Dunavant's father turned to the merchandising side of the industry at the age of 20, and soon joined forces with an older businessman named T.J. White, a Tennessee native whose family also had a long-term involvement in cotton. White & Co. was established in 1929 in downtown Memphis, where hundreds of small family cotton firms were located in order to do business in the Memphis Cotton Exchange. White struggled through the Depression of the 1930s, but with the war came prosperity, as the company grew to the point where it was handling in excess of 100,000 bales of cotton each year. Billy Dunavant joined the firm as a junior partner in 1952 after returning home to Memphis following two years at Vanderbilt University.

As Dunavant Enterprises, as the company was now known, entered the 1980s, a third generation entered the family business. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 1982, William B. Dunavant, III, joined the firm and began assuming a number of managerial positions as his father groomed him for greater responsibilities. By the middle of the decade Dunavant Enterprises was the world's largest independent cotton merchant, worth well in excess of $100 million and handling over $1 billion worth of cotton each year. To continue its pattern of growth, Dunavant took a number of significant steps during this period. H. McFadden & Bro., one of the country's oldest cotton merchandisers.

Company Histories

The project had evolved into the World Golf Village, which now included a Hall of Fame for virtually every ruling body in golf, including the United States Golf Association, the Royal & Ancient of St. Andrews, and the Masters' coordinator, Augusta National. In addition, the World Golf Village would boast a four-star resort hotel and convention center, three golf courses, a golf library and research center, a golf academy, a clubhouse, Mayo Clinic sports facility, and the new headquarters for PGA Tour productions. The golf village finally opened in May 1998, with attendance disappointing in its first year. Dunavant's residential project fared better, selling $50 million residential units in 1998, but in the summer of that year Dunavant opted to sell his interest to Pittsburgh-based Hillman Co. In September 1995 William B. Dunavant III, now 36 years old, ascended to the presidency of the firm. By now another family member, John D. Dunavant, was also occupying a key position, serving as senior vice-president of domestic sales as well as a member of the executive board.

Dunavant also made a major commitment to Australia in a bid to ensure a reliable year-round supply of cotton. To support this business Dunavant built the largest cotton gin in the world, capable of processing close to 15 percent of Australia's annual cotton crop. In 1987 Dunavant also acquired the largest cotton ginning facility in the United States. In January 1995 Billy Dunavant publicly expressed his view that high demand would soon drive cotton prices to 95 cents or $1, and in response futures prices began to soar. As a result more U.S. acreage was devoted to cotton, so that by the harvest of 1996 a seven-year growth cycle in the commodity came to a close. Privately owned Dunavant Enterprises, Inc. is one of the world's largest cotton merchandisers, the middleman for more than four million bales of domestic and foreign cotton each year. The Memphis, Tennessee, firm owns a commodities trading company, cotton ginning operations, warehouses, and a truck brokerage company dedicated to the transportation of cotton. Dunavant is also involved in real estate and other outside ventures, and Chairman and CEO William "Billy" Buchanan Dunavant, Jr., has been active in bringing major league sports franchises to the Memphis area. Dunavant operations are spread across the world, from Greenwood, Mississippi, to Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

He was also the first merchant to tap into the People's Republic of China, making his first sale to the mainland in November 1972. Later Dunavant moved aggressively to make sales to the Soviet Union. In the fall of 1990 Dunavant completed the largest individual sale of cotton in history, one million bales to China. In 1991 the company followed with an even better year, selling four million bales worth approximately $1.5 billion. It was also during this period that Dunavant became heavily involved in a golf enterprise utilizing land near Jacksonville, Florida, that had mostly been acquired in the early 1970s when it was used for potato farming.

At the onset of 2002 Billy Dunavant offer a gloomy assessment of cotton, which had glutted the market.
